LOGLINE
Strapped for cash, a hapless couple find themselves in-over-their-heads attempting to perform a kidnapping––botched in spectacular fashion.
Description
Produced as part of Boston University College of Communication's premiere honors course, student productions are provided a budget from the Film and TV Department and fundraise to create their undergraduate theses. Operating as a role-based application, the course assigns students to productions. As cinematographer on Plan B, I worked hand-in-hand with the director to create the visual vision of the story. Creating mood boards, visual language, reference styles, location scouts, storyboarding, color palette, shot listing, lighting overheads, camera crew assembly, equipment rentals, to on-site execution, the project offered a to z experience. Shooting on a remote location in wooded eastern Connecticut during winter at night stacked up a variety of challenges, offering the opportunity to delve into a multi-generator powergrid, overnight production, on-site large area lighting scheme, and managing a 10 person camera crew. Thanks to Murphy's Law––anything that can go wrong will go wrong; ironically turning to plan z, the production experienced a comedic amount of hiccups, teaching good attitude, hard work, and resilience; Best put by Charlie Chaplin, life is a tragedy when seen in close up, but a comedy in long-shot.
