A modern-retrospection of Emma Lazarus's The New Colossus poem, casting perspective on a nation of immigrants.
Born from a desire to experiment at the intersection of social purpose cinema, the creative process, and new video generation tools, Mother of Exiles is an attempt to provide historical imagery to Lazarus's poetic words staked at the very foundation of America's national emblem––the Statue of Liberty. A hybrid of artist collaboration and technology, the project appeals to the better angels of the artificial frontier's ability to enhance storytelling instead of hijack narrative pursuit: a hope where artificial intelligence is another tool in the creator's tool belt, instead of the hand swinging the hammer.
